The planned city of Chandigarh

Since it was a holiday for my classes too, i didnt want to waste time sitting at my home watching the I-Day celebrations. So with my newly purchased car i wanted to go for a long drive so that it is eligible for the first service, the place chosen was Chandigarh. We started by 4:00 AM in the Sunday morning and was caught a couple of times for Vehicle verification(since it was I-day) in Delhi.

Intro
Chandigarh is nearly 250 KM from Delhi and the road can be described in Lallu's words "As smooth as Hema Malini's cheek" since it is NH1. Me and my one more friend took the steering in turns, in total we were four of us all belonging to Cooumpatti(chennai) and working in the same org. Chandigarh is the well planned city in India which was designed by the famous French Architect Le Corbuiser, This city was created since the states of Punjab and Haryana needed a common capital city after their division.

Sukhna lake
The first place we entered was the Sukhna Lake which is at Sector1, Entire chandigarh city is logically divided into Sectors(numbering around 43) with lush green broad roads and parks around. Sukhna lake is an artificial lake created with the help of an artificial Dam built across a seasonal stream. We took a Pedal boat ride on the lake for 1/2 hour or so. The lake has a jogging stretch along its borders for around 2 KM we strolled over there too. It was a great relaxation for us under a banyan tree there where we slept for around 1 hour after a strenous drive.

HipnHop Bus (Govt of chandigarh undertaking)
Just at the entrance of the lake there was a double decker bus without a roof at the top floor which takes you around Chandigarh for mere Rs.25 and it will halt for 2 minutes at important places of visit, it is called HIP'n HOP bus with Stop board in its name exists around the places of visit. Though we went by my car, we decided to take the bus because we will keep track of the route to important places so that we dont spend time to locate them and it really helped that way. Some places covered by the bus are Sukhna lake, Rock garden, Rose garden, Sector 17 market, Capitol building(secretariat), Punjab University campus(here the bus stopped for 10 min so we strolled around it too) and the entire institutional area called Vigyan path(we noted only the Girls colleges names)

Sector 17&22
Our next stop was the sector 17 market which is much Hyped about but that we found was no where near the Atta Market of Noida. But it is supposed to be a good hang out place since at the time we were to that market it was so Hot and Humid only everyone will think only to Hang in.
Pinjore Garden
Next after a quick lunch in a Vaishno dhaba in sector 22 we proceeded to Pinjore Gardens which is 20 KM from the city in the Chandigarh-Shimla highway. It is a garden built in Moghul style with seven stages of garden. Again after a 1 hour of sleep in the shades we went to explore the garden, we found some really good looking chicks over there ;) and captured in our lens too. So you can understand of our purpose of the visit there. Just as we were about to leave the garden the fountains there started and it was again a visual treat we had there.

Rock Garden
We didnt want to enter the Rose garden as we came to know that it is not the right season for that but we see that from outside while in HipnHop tour, so we proceeded towards Rock Garden. Rock Garden is a artistical wonder you can say created with waste materials which varied right from broken pots, sanitary wares to fuse plugs. It is located in the sector 1. The concept is totally novell and kudos to the person for creating that. It had a couple of Aritifical Falls, Huge Rock Walls bordering, small puppets made out of wastes etc.. and a big Amphi Theatre where I-day celebrations were going on when we were there.

Some of the places missed by us due to lack of time are Kashauli( a hill station near Bougenvilla garden and the Chandigarh Zoo.

So from Rock gardens we started our trip back to Delhi, the most sad part is that we lost our way once we entered Delhi(Delhi should have a Hip'nHop service as in Chandigarh!!!!) and after a couple of error detection and error correction we made it back to our place by 1:30 AM. So awaiting for the snaps to get ready.
