Film Reviews:

Apaharan: Saw this film instead of Ek Ajnabi(since i saw Man on fire the day b4 on star movies). Typical Bihar scenerio of kidnapping well potrayed by Prakash Jha. I liked the film much as the kidnapping is depicted in such a way that it is a mamool affair. Those who kidnap fight for expenses involved(chai pani to the victim, tranquilizer costs, Cab rent etc. etc.). As usual politicians and police form a part of this(not to insult only Bihar on this as every state in India has this in common).

Ajay Devgun is an aspirant for Police Inspector for which he pays 4 lakhs(after getting loan from goons) as bribe to the officials, but his dad an useless gandhian fellow stops him from getting the job as he was about to expose a politician(Nana Patekar) who controls the recruitment. So Ajay Devgun is forced into their other world and becomes a right hand for Nana in running the kidnapping business. Jha really potrays how the goons operate from inside the prison(even they change the paint based on taste of the goons).

But still the film lacks the depth involved in the issue like Page 3 or Gangajal. Nana and Ajay runs the entire show. Dont expect entertainment from this film...only a ruthless Bihari like me can really enjoy this film.

Kalyug:

An married couple are taken MMS in their honeymoon and goes out in the market. The girl commits suicide as police takes a written statement that her husband is behind the racket. How the husband takes revenge is the film all about. I was expecting some steaming scenes ultimately got disappointed ;). Screen play is poor, it was like watching a C grade U certificate Bhojpuri movie(VCD quality cannot be blamed). Appreciable part is the songs(jiya dhadak dhadak - Himesh Reshmaiyyas voice still echoes in the mind).
