Chennai inundated

Quite happy to hear that Chennai is in Knee Deep water...i prefer not to go there this time as i'll be asked to take bath twice/thrice a day. Heard from my parents that the well at our home had overflown and it had bought out all the rubbish it had beneath(my father had recovered a plastic mug, rope etc. he has been waiting patiently this long to get them).

I was much more happy to see Cauvery overflowing, and the tales how Srirangam was saved. Though relief efforts are in a sluggish pace, atleast something has been done proactively by the present TN govt like bringing in the Army for relief(which Deshmukh failed to do in Mumbai) , switching of the power supply, evacuating people in low lying areas.

Another aspect which goes as credit to the TN govt is the implementation of Rain Water harvesting throughout TN. This really will be helpful in improving the groundwater table and it s quality after the rains.

But Chennai roads and infrastructure will still remain in a real mess. Even for a much lesser version of cyclone Chennai Roads become terrain paths. And politics/swindling money in rebuilding them add more oil to the fire. That needs to be addressed with rigour in case if chennai wants to retain the title of "Detroit of India".
