Parents @ Delhi(Visit to Akshardham)

My parents have shifted their venue of their quarrel from Chennai to Delhi for this month. Im having real problems in eating home made food nowadays, for which im scorned. My long stint in Delhi had totally isolated me from all those silly southee culture and food and is taking the toll before my parents as i insist them to eat all those rotis, and kebabs.

This weekend in order to shut down their mouth i had to take them to shopping in Sarojini Nagar market(i dont know what junks they bought) as i was happily sucking a Kulfi and watching the Chicks out there, leaving them inside the shops. My mom enjoyed the Lassi and the Paneer Pakoda @ the foot hills of Sarojini Nagar flyover kai endhi bhavan. Then by evening we decided to visit Akshardham Temple.

Akshardham is spread across 100 acres of land near the banks of Yamuna and the new Common Wealth games stadiums. I was awestruck with the intricate carvings of the ceiling and entrance. I spent nearly 2-3 hours walking in and out of the corridor...It is so huge that you cant see it in 1 or 2 hours. I would recommend seeing the link for the details. There are three Dwara's(doors) to enter the temple, each made on different theme for eg. one is Mayur dwara where carvings of about 1000 Peacocks are in place. Then there is a small fountain with the feet of the Swami(quite a bigger one..may be his feet in Vishwarooopa) betwee the two dwaras. Taking a right from the dwaras u enter the main temple which houses the garbagraha(main idol).

The main temple is awesome. Seems the cult gives importance to animals and trees more than Humans(which i liked very much) so any carving you take will have an elephant(special importance), monkeys, peacocks etc. One cannot imagine how these quixotic carvings were completed within a span of 5 years. One will be astonished how they did some 3-D carvings in the cielings inside the main temple. One who visits Delhi shouldnt go without seeing this temple, irrespective of whatever religion.

We reached there by 5 Pm and watched the Aarti there and waited till dusk so that we experience the exhilarating experience of seeing the Sunset from there and beautiful lightings around the Marble structure. Although the sun set besides the Indraprastha Gas Factory :)..it was good to watch it from inside this structure. The monument is a jewel during the night with its lightings and water fountains.

Entry is free to the temple but there are other entertainments like Musical Fountain, 3D film depicting the life of this swami,Library etc. I had visited the same temple in Gandhinagar and this one is its big brother. Dont miss this one when in Delhi, good place for hang out too if you have gf/bf.
