Garhmukteshwar-Bike trip to nearest Ganges Ghat.

On a windy Sunday morning last week, me and my sardar roomie decided to go for a bike trip. The location chosen was Garhmukteshwar, it is the nearest Ganga Ghat to Delhi.

It is located on the National Highway(NH24) to Lucknow in UP. The entire stretch of 66 KM was as smooth as Priayanka Chopra's legs. Unfortunately on seeing the board of Garhmukteshwar in the roadsigns we got into the township searching for the Ganges, that stretch of road was as bad as Rabri Devi's face. But the actual ghat was on the highway itself just 4Km from the township.

Ganga was flowing smoothly in the ghat(it is called BhujGhat) and the volume of water flow was very high, one of the locals advised not to venture deep into the water(of course both of us didnt know swimming). After having a dip in there to wash out the committed sins(i know it is not sufficient!!!) we started our way back. The Ghat is not so organised as Varnasi(for which i'm leaving next week), there are no steps so quite risky. And places to take bath are all encroached by ferries who make a trip around the shores.

The place is also famous for Bamboo related furnitures, where you could see varieties of Modas(a stool kinda stuff), Chairs, Jhoolas etc. So on our trip we went to Chandni Chowk travelling back some 100 KM. went on an eating and purchasing spree(right from undergarments to Rs. 10 gogles). The trip meter reading showed we had clocked aroun 250 KM on that day, also indications from Spinal cords of both confirmed the same.

Have taken a few snaps of them, will try to share it soon....

Page 3

One of the best films i have seen which easily deserves an award for its bold theme. What good culture we are talking about in India? come on see this new one which even makes a foreigner drop his head down!!! says Madhur Bhandarkar, the director of the film.

A brief Introduction to page 3

Page 3 of the major Tabloids in India shows people from various parts of life actively participating in parties. What is happening in these parties and the profiles of the person who attend this parties, how good or bad are they is what the film is all about.

Konkana Sen Sharma is an upcoming journalist, she is assigned the task for writing articles for page 3. With Boman Irani as her chief editor, she goes into each happening parties in Mumbai and mingles with those so called high class people for preparing her article.

The subject goes into Gay relationship, behind the back verbal stabbing , Wife swapping , Child sex abuse etc. etc. Even in a funeral how these page 3 people plan for their next party and business ventures is really revealing.

Sandhya Mridhul as an air hostess and a roomie of Kokana has done a commendable role. Sure the urban audience will like this film very much.

Great Irony - Womens Day

This the greatest ironies i have ever seen. Delhi celebrating "WOMENS DAY". So as a part of celebration, the media guys were asked not to report any Rapes/Eve teasing/assault that happened on Womens Day.

Weather forecast by UP electricty board

There was a sudden change in temperature and the appearance of dark neige in the skies after a three month long winter, when i woke up this morning (not really a morning, you can say close to afternoon) , Though unsure whether it will rain or not as this has been a regular occurence here.
But shower was confirmed immediately the UP electricity board shut off the power supply to our locality. I was amazed by their precision at which they did this predicting the weather, as it was followed by a good downpour in few minutes.
If UP electricity can be so precise than the actual metereogical department, i hope even future projects like TSUNAMI detection/Earthquake warning can be given to them as additional responsibilities, i'm sure they will excel in that and cut the power supply off(so that we can pack our bags and run to the nearest shelter)

The Da Vinci Code - My review.

While my stay at Mumbai i was gifted this book by Osscilator which we bough while wandering along the paths of VT, author of this book is Robert Brown . I had been hearing reviews about this earlier more for its controversies since the fulcurum of the plot evolved around Christianity. For the past one week i curbed all my entertainments and concentrated only on reading this book. I couldnt afford any other due to pecuniary reasons as this had been an Income Tax month. Though not an avid reader of English novels(just because they are written in English which had always been my weak point for ages)

The story goes like this. Robert Langdon is an expert Symbologist in US who is invited to paris by Jacques Sauniere an head of the Louvre Museum. By the time Robert reaches Paris, Jacques gets assasinated and unfortunately the visitor becomes the suspect. At the time of death Jacques hints about his murderer with a set of Symbols and clues, and how Robert decrypts them(along with Sophie Neveu an cryptologist in France) to identify Jacques murderer and the reasons for his murder is the rest of the story.

The good thing about this book is that it moves very fast and there are too many twists of tale added to it. GRE aspirants who are good in logical reasoning will think that the methods utilzed in decryption are too childish. There are too much of French language involved(not been a trouble for me as I've some half baked knowledge about French). All the characters involved have a defined role and form an active part(not like our hindi mega serials) in the story and none can be neglected or termed idle.

I would put this rating as 3 out 5 for this book. Not interested in reading it wait till Tom Hanks finishes his work on the movie based on this book. Go ahead and watch it on the big screen.
